Nude of the day 59: Autumn forest glade with nude

The last three pictures were done at a different time to the others.

The picture: The landscape was painted in the forest on my iPad.  The nude was added later. I always draw on the ipadwith my finger. Compare this with the previous picture "Splashes of Colour" which was also a finger paining. though with that one my hands got ain a mess. I often want to paint nudes in a landscape to make the picture more interesting. We often use this picture as a birthday card (adults only) as it always gives the birthday person a good laugh.  

I used the original Brushes ap on the ipad for the painting and you can watch it being painted on this video. Click here for the video. The nude was added later.

Nude of the day 58: Splashes of colour

The picture: I used no tools for this picture, I used my fingers as a child might paint with ketchup and mayonaise on the kitchen table with her fingers.  I used my finger tips and nails.  You can see the finger nail marks on the side of the torso on the left of the picture and the zig-zag in the background.  The colours used were Maimeri acrylics primary colours:
   yellow 116
   cyan 400
   magenta 256
and a spot of white paint here and there.  The dark black mass was as mixtureof all three colours, and I scratched out an ear-ring while the paint was still wet. I got the flesh tones with an underwash of yellow. These three Maimeri colous will make most of the colours you ever need. I think a stick was used also as well as my fingers.

What do you think? I get pretty messy when I finger paint in this way but I enjoy it. I also paint with my fingertip on my iPad,  See the iPad picture of a nude in a landscape which is coming tomorrow. Have you tried finger painting? Let me know.

What do you think? I like the light on the cheekbones. The swept up hair was fun to do, I also liked the sweeping lines of the very light drapery around the back of her neck and down her breast and the diagonal sweep of the drapery, How about you?

The picture: Seated female nude.  Pastel on sandy brown pastel card.  Bright green and yellow behind the  the figure her hair tie in a small bun.  She is seated on a stool with a dark magenta covering.

What do you think? This is a light drawing but the emphasis is on the golden sunlight as it falls on the model's body.  The fleshtakes its shade colours entirely from the background colour of the pastel card.  Do you like the effect?

The picture: Pastel redrawn on the computer using Corel Painter and a Wacom tablet.

What do you think? I rather like the wild colours and lines I added to the original on the computer.  I think I was drawing her complex thoughts in the diagonal colours behind.  I think she is working out her future.  I like the swirl of her hand pointing down, the hair sweeping down. the spine sweepintg down. Is she in shallow water? What do you think?

The picture: Fine black line pen on white paper. Two minutes. Drawn as one continuous lin as much as I could.

What do you think? Drawing usinge one continuous line mkesyou observe the main shapes and not the details.  You'll notice that the arms are much shorter than the legs.  The legs were closer to my eyes but not that much/  I see her stretching first thing in the moring as she tries to throw off sleep.

The picture: Charcoal, female nude reclining on a quilt, studying a map and planing an adventure.  Heavy dark shading at the back to bring her forward.  One legcovered with the quilt.

What do you think?  The whole body leans to the right and the left arm directs you to the open map. I find charcoal very useful to making an intense black.

What do you think? I found it difficult painting flesh colours on a black pastel board and it was quite challenging, but I like challenges.  It's all part of the art adventure.

Nude of the day 46: Listening to bird song

The picture: Water based wash of blue green crayon with red added.  Female nude reclining, front view.  Right arm takes the weight of her body. Left arm rests across her torso. This one is similar to the drawing on January 25.  I show them both together below.

They are different poses.  In the left picture, the upper weight is on the left arm at the back and both legs are visible.  On the right picture, the model's upper weight is on her right arm and only one thigh is visible. My drawings, coincidentally have become a pair.

When I prepare myself for a drawing/painting session, I collect crayons, pastels, acrylics, pencil, charcoal and various brushes, water, paint rag, sponges and different qualities of paper and card etc and maybe my ipad for painting.  In order to work, I spend a few seconds deciding which medium suits my thinking about this pose, then picking up crayon, white paper with water and a soft brush at the ready eg for blending.

Nude of the day 45: Love is in the air

This is the drawing which inspired the Valentine. Shown below. It is a charcoal drawing on white paper of a female standing nude. A short pose. I like the hip angle with the right hip supporting the weight.  In contrast the chest, the breasts, the shoulders and the head tilt in the opposite direction.  In the valentine I made her hands hold up the flowers.

Nude of the day 37: I've drawn this pose from both sides now!

The picture: Charcoal on white paper.  Nude woman standing front view, two minute pose, and back view seven minute pose. So more time was available for the back view.  You can see the first strokes of the spine and the shoulder line on the back view, which make a cross.  The front view shows the shoulder line and breast lines indicated by two diagonal lines. Note a faint line of the hips showing the oposite diagonal to the shoulders.

What do you think? I like the body shape front and back, and the high hair style of the head. What do you think?
